Father Faces Murder Charges After Mistakenly Killing His Son Outside School
A male shot and killed his teen boy, apparently by mistake, outside his school in Ennerdale, Johannesburg south, on Tuesday night, police reported.
Soweto West cluster spokesperson Captain Mpande Khoza said the father was charged with the murder of his 14-year-old boy.
The Captain said that according to information in the docket, the man had taken his son to school to attend evening classes.
It was reported that the father dropped the young boy and locked his vehicle as he waited outside…he later fell asleep. The boy later came back and knocked on his father’s passenger window.
Khoza said that the father who was asleep in the car with his firearm on him… got scared by the knock and pulled out his gun and shot towards the direction of the person who was knocking. He then realized that he shot his son.
It was reported that the boy passed away on his way to the hospital.
The police took the statement on Tuesday night, and allowed the father to go home. He was then arrested on Wednesday morning.
