The ride was from Humewood to Mount Pleasant.<\/p>\n<p>Police spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu said that the suspect was picked by the driver\u201a 30\u201a in Humewood at around 8.30pm.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOn the way\u201a in Glendore Road in Walmer\u201a the 24-year-old suspect pulled out a firearm and pointed at the driver\u201a\u201d said Naidu.<\/p>\n<p>Apparently, he was ordered to stop and get out of his Volkswagen Polo Vivo and robbed of his cell phone while they were both outside the vehicle\u201a but that the keys had been left in the ignition. As the suspect walked towards the vehicle [to drive away] \u201a the Uber driver ran after him and they started fighting. Shots were fired and the suspect sustained three gunshot wounds.<\/p>\n<p>The suspect ran to a nearby house in Beethoven Road where an ambulance was called.\u201cThe stolen cell phone was in his possession.
