Boity introduced her new ‘amadlozi’ name

Mzansi rapper and media personality has officially introduced her ‘amadlozi’ name.

“You can officially refer to me as Gogo Nomakhwezi. Thokozani,” Boity said on Twitter.

Since revealing that she is a sangoma in 2016, Boity Thulo has been unapologetic about her spirituality. Earlier this year, Boity lashed out over people who according to her were reducing her ancestral calling to be a traditional healer as something evil.

“If you’re going to try and demonize me for believing in my ancestors and the journey they have placed me on, you’re wasting your time. And stop trying to send me to get reprimanded by White Jesus who claims the people who birthed my family are demons. Asomblief. Thanks.”

After introducing her new name, many of her followers were not impressed, questioning her why the ancestors chose a Zulu name instead of Sesotho.” Why Zulu, isn’t there ‘koko’ Boitumelo something?”

But at this point in time, I guess it doesn’t matter what people are saying. Boity seems to be so sure of her sangoma journey. “They called. I answered. The proudest, most incredible day of my life. A beautiful gift that I will never take for granted,” she captioned a picture of herself some time ago. She’s proud of her calling… and her new name. Thokoza Gogo Nomakhwezi!
